  • WTS Robert Schrader Custom Mauser 1906-1912

I wanted to offer this rifle for sale to the membership before I list it anywhere else.

You can find extensive photographs here as well as the discussion of the construction and proof marks.

As mentioned in the thread the bore is in very poor condition and I planned on having it rebored to 9.3 and then rechambering to 9.3x62. The safety is not operational in my opinion, as it has very poor engagement. I do not know if someone messed with it over time, but it should be fixed prior to making this a hunting rifle. The side holes from the side mount scope need welded up. I started fitting a set of custom rings. Fit an Oberndorf lever release. My intention after all of this was to rust blue the barrel and bottom metal and color case harden the receiver and bolt.

I can quote the above work for anyone should they be interested.

I would like to start by asking $750 for the rifle.

This rifle has a Mauser, Oberndorf commercial action( pre WW1). Note the Mauser Serial number behind the recoil lug, and on the back of the magazine box, also note the double set trigger is built in the trigger guard, and not the typical separate add in unit. The Mauser address was covered by the stippling on the receiver ring, or was not placed by Mauser( per request?).The numbers were somewhat mixed, but are close enough to suggest several rifles may have been worked up at the same time, by Schrader in a "batch". The number on the bolt matches the receiver, however. The numbers point to a manufacture date, for the action, of mid 1906.

      Bump!

Does anyone have an interest that they would like to make a reasonable offer?

I have already been offered $300 for the trigger guard and double set triggers. I suspect between the action, stock, and barrel I could secure the rest of the price, but I sure hate to break up a piece of history like this. With a little work she can be resurrected and shooting again!
