in m mind caliber 8x57 JR is 8,2 mm diameter, but we can see 7,9 ; 7,8 mm ( I think it is for 8x57 R )
Why they proofed different sizes of bullets?

MARAT,
First of all, unless you have some documentation more than the drilling, itself, it is not likely you will find out who owned it first.
The 7,8 and 7,9 proof marks were never intended to show the diameter of the bullets. These marks show the bore diameter as actually measured by the proofhouse. The bore diameter is neither the bullet diameter, nor the groove diameter. The bore diameter was measured by inserting "plug gages" into the barrel, and marking it to show the largest that would fit into the barrel. The "plug gages"were in 0.1mm steps, so if the 7,8 would go in, but not the 7,9; the barrel could actually be 7,8999. If the 7,9 would go in, but not the 8,0; it could actually be 7.9000. This means a barrel marked 7,9 might only be 0.0001mm larger than one marked 7,8. This might seem odd now, but the proof law was first written in 1891, and this was within the accuracy common at that time( until about 1912, they used gauge measurement as you know from your Meffert).
Shortly before WW2, they started requiring the rifles to be marked by the name usually used for the cartridge intended to be used in it. This means the drilling with 7,8 and 7,9mm bores was intended to use 8x57JR cartridges. Your drilling was proofed in May of 1936, as shown by the 536 mark. To have a drilling with extra doublerifledrilling barrels is both unusual and lucky. Also, it is a very nice one.

Thank you, gentlemen, for your valuation!
It is one of stars of my collection and I"ve spent many time and efforts to buy it.
Unfortunately, I don't have any documents about this drilling and previous owner didn't know too anything.
I got an answer from Krieghoff, that almost all documents were burned during WW2, but one of version was that first owner was top gun pilot from lufftwafe.
I don't know is it truth or not....
Unless you object, I will ask this credible organization about interesting me questions ?! some of them may be stupid....

Sharps4590,
Yes, it is the same "Dopplebuechsedrilling"(?sp), just written in German. This term is used both for the ones with both rifle barrels on top or with one of the rifle underneath(like this one). Of course, as usual, I might be wrong.

Part of the reason our founder, Dietrich Apel, started the German Gun Collectors Assn. was to study the history of German Sporting Guns. We often see the ones hidden and left in Germany, and the ones brought back to the US, after WW2. We see less often the ones taken to England, France, or Russia. Each Occupation Zone was under different rules, according to which authority was in charge. It would be interesting to find out about the rules for the Russian Zone. We will try to answer your questions, but you might get different answers from different people, and you might have different parts of one question answered by different people. We are all just people trying to help and none or us has authority over anyone else, so answers might conflict. Axel is generally recognized as expert on technical matters, however. Now that you have " jumped into the pool", you may see it is beneficial to participate fully, and you may find yourself in the position of being able to help someone else. Many of us enjoy using our German guns, and are interested whether Russians are able to fully use theirs, and whether ammunition and components is easily available to Russians.
