Here's an update on this project...
See "Part 1" in an earlier posting from me.
I haven't gotten to spend too much time on this Drilling these summer months, but I do plan to file/polish the two shotgun indicator pins so they are flush after firing.
As for the rifle's cocking indicator pin -- the solder has failed.
It still appears to me that it's located too far behind the curved top of the rifle's hammer (see the images on Part 1) to make good contact. I can add some mass to the front of the pin, but it has to align with the hammer and it can't be too wide -- due to the fact the pin can rotate in its holder, and it also has to fit in between the other hammers.
Looking at the 1st image on Part 1, I noted the rod for the rifle selector button/rear sight that runs along the top of the action...
Hmmm....
Now my plan is to fabricate an extended button head (or flag) "with legs" on it, so the extended head/flag of the pin fully contacts the rifle's hammer, but the back two legs run parallel to the rifle's selector rod -- thus always keeping the extended button head/flag fairly aligned with the hammer.
Here's a crude drawing of how it could work.............
Will it work???
Only time will tell, but at least now I have a plan!
