Tom,
Collath's statement that this caliber is easy to load for is correct, and would be my own solution to aquiring ammo. However, if you don't handload, there may be a couple other solutions.First of all, you need to determine which diameter bullet is required. There is really no 8x60I, the "I" applies only to the 57mm case. The 8x60 cartridge with .318 bullet is just 8x60. A "S" is appropriate if .323 bullet is used.Like some other 8mm cartridges, your rifle may accept ammo loaded with .318,.321,or .323"bullets. Markings on the rifle may not show this. You should either "cobble"together a cartridge (cast bullet is ok), or have someone else do it. This cartridge would then be fired in your rifle. The fired cartridge case would then be use as a gauge to determine which bullet can be used. If a .323 bullet will easily fit into the neck, then you can use 8x60S ammo, and there are two sources of commercial cartridges avaliable. One is Graf &Son and they have it for $30.99/20. Buffalo Arms has it from time to time for $54.25/20. If a .323 bullet will not fit, then a custom handloader can load it using either .318 or .321 bullet, depending on which will fit. Buffalo Arms doesn't list it with other than .323 bullets, but have the components and can load what ever you need. You would need to talk to them about whether they will do it for you and the price. If they do it "one off", you can expect a higher charge. While not as important as which diameter bullet will enter the case neck, the custom hand loader may want to know the groove diameter of the barrel. If you don't already know the diameter, you can find it by flatening a 00 buckshot a little, drive it into the barrel( an inch or so)with a smaller than the barrel punch, and push it out with a cleaning rod. This "slug" can be measured or sent to the custom handloader. Good luck. BTY, I have no connection to either Graf & son or Buffalo Arms.
