WTB - SCOPE MOUNT for Drilling

I have a Nimrod drilling that has the dovetail type mount atop the right shot barrel. I would like to mount a scope if possible. Are there any sources for one not requiring alterations to the gun? After viewing Axel's site, perhaps a Stoeger No. 556, Sempert & Krieghoff mount might work? What I may need is a Theime & Schlegelmilch mount. Any suggestions?

Other of our members have modified, or had someone else modify available rings to fit similar bases. They have mentioned, Ruger, Warne, and CZ as donor rings. Original rings will be very difficult to find and will likely be "Dear", cost wise. ERA and Recknagel, two German companies may have something to fit. They have websites and have some representation in the U.S.

I will look into the rings that you mention. At first glance the CZ looks more appropriate but I like the Ruger clamp knob.

You will need to machine the little tab off the bottom of the Ruger mounts. You also may have to machine the dovetail a little wider on the solid side to center the base to the mount depending on the width of the mount. Easily done on a vertical milling machine and can be done by hand with appropriate files too. Check out Talley mounts too. They have a couple different width rings and look more period.

This option isn't as elegant as the others, but as a first effort or low-cost way to get a scope mounted -- or to help others who will view this post months or years in the future -- here's another option... (I recently posted about these on a different post on this forum.)

Check on the Pyramid Air website for "Dovetail to Weaver Adapters", which are slotted width-adjustable clamp-on mounts which come in different widths to fit odd sized ribs, and allow Weaver-style rings to clamp on top-- thereby tightening the mount to the rib. I've used them with much success on a couple of Bock-Buchsflinte O/U combination guns I own, and even with heavy 12 gauge loads (3" #4 buckshot for coyotes), I've never had them slip.

No they're not German/Austrian or original, but they will allow you to scope it to get you started with load development and get you out shooting or hunting with it.

I haven't tried them yet, I have received them and they are as advertised. Our hunting goes until 10 Feb; it will be after that. The gun I intended them for is a hammer Buechsflinte in 10x42R; I have the ammo pretty much worked out, but need to convert enough cases from 45-70 to Mauser Base (MB) to continue.
