Wow.
Would love to see something like this on an german show.
Too bad they don't have displays such as this at shows over there. I have been to the Kassel Show and will go next year, as well as Ulm in May.
This was a private collection and the gentleman keep his focus on 1906. Obviously the rifles are not from that match. The Allentown Show is 5 times a year and one of the best in the nation for antique arms, and there are always some Schützen rifles for sale.
I spent about fifteen minutes taking in just that display. I don't recall if it won best of show but it should have. Unfortunately, no one was manning the display while I was near so I couldn't ask any questions of which I had a million. I hope he shows it again. I have been a member of the Forks of the Delaware Arms Collectors for thirty years and lucky to have that show within twenty minutes of my house. Nice photos by the way and thanks for posting.
I spoke with Bill two shows ago about a stalking rifle he had and looked over some fine Schuetzens on his table. I thought I saw his table but did not see him. Where do you usually set up as I would like to introduce myself at the next show.
bentwrench,
There are usually multiple displays at each show that are worthy of attention and featuring many different categories. Most are excellent but this one was exceptional.
Diz, I set up in the smaller room on the furthest wall. About 1/3rd down from the front. Look forward in meeting you. Next show is in about 5 weeks. Bill has been invaluable in helping me get started with Schützen rifles, and discussing the history and traditions of this sport.
Thanks for the additional photos. It's hard to see everything that was on that display but the accouterments and memorabilia alone would have made their own displays. Looking forward to seeing you at the next show.
