This is my first foray into Schuetzen guns. I picked this one up a few weeks ago and there are some questions I have. The first is how do I get the butt stock off? I can see one top tang screw so I am missing something. Second the sights are not original and are open peep sites. I was considering putting original style replicas on it for around $400 but my older eyes aren't so good and now I'm considering a period scope. This one I can't decide on. Any help in any category would be appreciated.

    Cheers
    David

On taking off the buttstock: First pull out the small lever/knob on the lower tang to hand detach the trigger plate and set trigger mechanism, as for inpecting, cleaning and oiling. With the lower tang/triggerplate removed you have access to the screw holding butt to upper tang.

I tried to remove the trigger assembly as you describe but it won't budge. Everything looks relatively clean so I don't anticipate a bunch of oil and dirt. Is there more to this or perhaps I haven't the right technic yet?

What is the state of the trigger, in battery or at rest?

        Cheers,

I have never seen this kind of sighting part. How does it work? Peep sight? Optical ?
            Possible to get bigger pics?

I finally but a few raps with a plastic hammer to the trigger plate assembly latch and it let loose. I don't expect it had been apart since is was sleeved in 1952. The rear site is peep with an aperture assembly at the front of the barrel.
