I have been shooting German schuetzen rifles for 35 years. This forum and Tom Rowes 3 vol. set have been my only knowledge sources. One question still remains unanswered, I hope one or more of the members can shed some light on it. Was the tang sight used in conjunction with the open sight on the barrel rib to sharpen the sight picture or were they used for separate matches? Many rifles came back to the US with tang sights, but few with both sights, if the rifle was “liberated “ with sights, the GI would most certainly have brought both. This leads me to believe the open sight on the rib was an option not included unless ask for, and most rifles only had the tang sight. I am handicapped by my inability to read German, so I hope the more knowledgeable members can answer this question.
