I have noticed that Zimmerstutzen rifles are for sale often. Are components available in the good old USA to shoot them? Are any matches held?
Thanks Mike
I find the casings and round balls for sale at shows. ISS in Texas has them as well. It is a fun rifle to shoot indoors at 15 meters. I don't know of any matches.
I had one for a few weeks -- which the online seller had misrepresented as a 22 LR Schuetzen -- and after doing some research on it, I ended up selling it off for $100 more than I'd paid (as the seller would not accept the return, even though he'd advertised it all wrong...)
Anyway, during my research on these guns, I too found ISS in TX was selling loaded ball ammo.
Also, think link to Zimmerstutzens on Pyramid Air (click for link) was really well done and has a lot of good info in it. Note the "old vs new" numbers for ball sizes, as with that, I was able to prove the one I had would use the ammo which ISS sells.
It isn't cheap ammo though -- which is why I'd wanted a 22 LR to begin with -- but I hope you find that article helpful.
I have read that article before. It is nicely done! I just picked up this ammo over the weekend, and tend to buy it whenever I see it. Has always been the #7 ball. What the article doesn't mention, unless I missed it, is what timeframe both the "old" and "new" represent.

I think that Neal Step, who sells the 4mm rimfire ammo from ISS had told me that in a phone conversation once, but sadly, I cannot recall. His phone number is on the ISS website if someone really needed to know.
