John, interesting. I was under the impression that Simson was the maker of this Franz Jäger designed drilling (not Simpson, LTD the importer). F.W. Vandrey was a famous German outfitter/retailer. Sam

F.W. Vandrey, Colonnaden 39, Hamburg, and Kochstrasse 59, Berlin, was the retailer indeed.
As Franz Jäger had licensed Simson, Suhl, to make his action, the action was known as the "Simson – Jäger – Verschluss". But, as Franz Jäger's trademark "Herold" shows, it was made by F. Jäger & Co. Pfiffergrube 17, Suhl.
Recently the drilling was imported by Simpson Ltd.
Guns with a near identical action, called "Record Verschluss", were made by Paul Scholberg, rue Morinval 24, Liege, Belgium, and offered in Germany too. Though the "Record" design clearly violates Jäger's 1904 DRPatent # 176578, nothing of a Jäger/Scholberg licence, agreement or legal dispute is known. But Jaeger's partner of 1901-1902 New York times, Carl Bittiner, is listed from 1907 at Scholberg's rue Morinval 24 address!

Axel, thanks for straightening this out. I recently won the Simson on Simpson which is a little confusing. It's a beautiful drilling with the unique strong "Chopper lumps" you mentioned.
