Meaning of German abbreviation

I recently acquired an early Mauser sporter by Emil R. Martin of Bonn. The maker's name on top of the barrel is followed by "H or A / RH." Does anybody know what that means?

I did not need this rifle. I have too many. And I have a Mauser and a couple of German-style sporters already. And this one is in 8x57J, and it has been broken and repaired at the wrist. (The repair is, however, stable, and not terribly unsightly, especialy from the right side.) But the (obviously long-ago refinished) walnut stock is extraordinarily silky to the feel, and this rifle weighs just a little over 6 lbs, and balances beautifully. This is a rifle you can swing on running game.

I can't tell you anything about the stampings however, your Mauser compares favorably to my J.P. Sauer & Sohn in 9 X 57 and you're right, they are quite nimble.

A/RH would mean Am Rhein; in other words "On the Rhine River," referring to Bonn's location. Dan
