Sauer combination proof marks

image.jpgI took some pictures of the proof marks from my Sauer combination and would like to know date of manufacture and model if possible. Caliber is 8x57 under a 16 gauge. I would also like to know a recommend scope rings for this . Thanks image.jpgimage.jpg,image.jpg

Looks like 555 or May 1955.

Some other members have rifles with similar scope mounts and some of them modified Ruger scope rings to solve their problem. There are others, but this seems to be one of the easiest.I think about the only work required would be removing the lugs on the underside, and maybe adjusting for the dovetail width. When installing them, be sure to "bump" the front one against the "stops" on the front base. Good luck.

Thanks for the information on my rifle. I will be using it this fall for whitetail and perhaps moose if we can draw a tag. Incredibly light and a joy to shoot , great workmanship. Thanks again.
