Schrader for sure. After you commit John Walter's text to memory, you could start on the whole of the GGCA publications. There's Darrin Weaver's Encyclopedia of German Tradenames & Trademarks but I'd wouldn't absorb that, just know where it is on the shelf. Saving the best for last, Gerhard Wirnsberger's Standard Directory of Proof Marks is a must.

Well, we have a segment of time, a serial number, so there may be a correlation between the example & a Suhl maker if there are other known examples by the same maker in the sequence.

    Cheers,

Here it is in the catalog:

Seems you got the "Luxus-Ausführung", page 402

          furhmann,

Thank you very much! Those are fantastic!

Those scans are from the 1911 Alfa catalog correct?

I wasn't very successful in the financial translation, but in 1913 320 Marks would have been approximately $76 US dollars. Incredibly, that would be only $1800 today!

I have family coming in for the weekend, so it might be Monday or Tuesday before I get the Schrader marked rifle up.

Raimey, please let me know if you come across any more information, or locate any information regarding the serial number and maker. Thank you again for your wealth of information!

Yes, from the reprinted 1911 catalog.
I can't say how much those 320 Mark would be worth today.
But a quick internet search tells me a workman's monthly salary was about 80 Mark then.
Now if you compare to today's average salary that will be quite something!

            Regards,

fuhrmann, incredible, to look at the cost and prevailing wages of the day!

Raimey, et all, looking at the action, should this action have a push forward set trigger?

Yes Nathaniel, a single set trigger and you are correct, push it forward to set it. The adjustment screw is between the triggers and it seems some of mine adjust and some don't.

Indeed, it wears the French Stecher or single set while the brace of set-trigger is of German design.
