Not subject sporting weapons but an 88 I believe-
The preponderance of evidence for the S tilts the scale in favour of Schlegelmilch. Helmut Schlegelmilch was an apprentice there in the mid 1920s so I would guess his father worked there. Also along the Schlegelmich lines would be Gebhard Helmuthhauser /Gebhard Helmuthäuser being represented by a Star over H(those little ones might be crowns??). Now Ford I believe you knew Helmut Schlegelmilch so cough up the info that you asked him if his father applied an single S to a Haenel sporting weapon & he confirmed it.
It is also possible that the script EB notes effort by Ernst Zacharias Baestlein or may be represented by the single B. I'm highly confident that the letter B correlates to Baestlein. Only fly in the syrup here is that the initials would be EZB so did EZB use EB instead of ZB??
I'll work on the Iron Cross but don't get you hopes up for a time.
Cheers,
Raimey
