  • Suhl Nimrod Gewehr Fabrik 16ga/8x57JR Value?

    Hello,
I'm trying to find the value of this (I guess) Suhl Numrod Gewehr Fabrik Drilling, 16ga over barrels, and 8x57JR rifled under barrel. As for the condition; I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. If anyone has any information on this I would really appreciate it!

I've seen founding dates as late as 1852 but it may be that it was on May 4th, 1850 by Carl Adolph Thieme and Heinrich Nicolaus Schlegelmilch. And then in early February Chr. Funk acquired it and it seems if faltered in 1936 and possibly their was a bankruptcy. Whether that happened or not, Chr. Funk consolidated the machinery under one roof and pressed onward. Seeing it has the May 1934 date, it would have been manufactured at the T&S facility with Christoph Funk at the helm. Looks to be very nice condition with all tubes having bushed & disk set strikers.

    Kind Regards,

The lower tube has the script L so one of the Boys Kelber was involved. I'm fascinated with the stamps adjacent to the steel type bullets. Can you post an image of what is present?

      Kind Regards,

Proof House Ledger April 1934 pg 2 (3).jpg
I believe I have the page from the Suhl Beschüssamt that records payment for proofing on this gun, if you want. Can email a better scan.

Nice addition. Is there an abbreviation for T&S or does anyone see it? Interesting to see that Louis Kelber sent something thru, so I assume the tubeset knitter or tube maker would send his wares thru prior to the assembled lot passing?

          Kind Regards,

Ah, ha. Maybe it was Nr. 53 & went thru under the name of Funk?

I think that is the way of it. If I am reading this correctly, the payments made by Kelber and Gebrüder Rempt were on account, from previous year. Those two refer back to book page 5, and the other entries are from Einnahmeliste or subsequent book pages. Again, I THINK that is correct.

Info on Wilhelm Serbe might just be most interesting.

Hello, I apologize that it has taken me so long to respond (work & all). -

                    Raimey,
I hope the new pic helps, markings like that are on each side of the shotgun barrels; of the two I felt this is the more legible.

PS: Thanks to everyone for the information!
