Proof question

I have a system Will schuetzen rifle, it has the standard BUG marks and the word SUHL in a shield, the shield sweeps to a point at the top rather than flat across the top. The number 433 is present. Would 433 be the date April 1933 or is it a ledger number? Can a ledger number be present without a date stamp?

Mike,
Since it is a SUHL proof, 433 would be the date (April 1933), the Suhl Proof House didn't mark ledger numbers like Zella-Mehlis did.
