Marks

I would like some help identifying these marks. The rifle appears to be a System Will 1908. The serial number on the barrel matches the one on the action. There is no tang site and the barrel sight appears to be a “Swiss”. The barrel has 18.125 inches of rifled bore the remaining 13.375 is bored to about .375.

Mike,
The markings on the barrel shown in the left hand photo are not proof marks, rather they are manufactures marks, likely of the barrel. Peter's link might reveal the owner of these marks. From the middle photo, I think your ID of the action might be correct. The markings in the right hand photo are :bona fide" proof marks. The crown B is the mark foe a single definitive proof, using the provisional proof charge. The crown G means it was proofed for a single projectile( a bullet). The crown U means it underwent a "View" proof after the definitive proof; which is a detailed inspection, including verification of dimensions. The 5.3 mm( 0.209") is the bore( not groove or bullet) diameter. This is one of the marks that may be found on 22 rim fires. The fact that the bore diameter was expressed in mm and w/o log number, indicates it was proofed after about 1911 in the Suhl proof house.. The fact that it is not dated indicates it was likely proofed before 1924. I hope you find this helpful.
