Dating a "System Stahl" Schuetzen

Have had this rifle for a year, so decided to finally clean it up and get it to the range. Reading here about dating a rifle by its serial number I am wondering if we can date this rifle. I place it in the 1880s based on the features, and that the barrel was relined from 9.5x47R to 8.15x46R.

The serial number is "5798" and a "798" is on only a couple of parts (barrel, trigger guard, and bolt). But, many parts have a "789", to include the inside of the trigger assembly. Sight components, front of reciever, etc, have a "789". Exterior of stock has a "78" on the forearm and butt, as well as the forearm retainer, and the buttplate.

Was the barrel relined by "Max Moeller"?

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Rifle has a "rack number" tag with a "7" and this code. I assume it was taken by a GI from a gun club.

I think I remember addressing the question of who lined the barrel to 8.15x46R, from 9.5x47R. As I recall, I said with only the MM you described I couldn't tell if the MM was for the original or relining work. Now that you show a photo, I can make out another mark( HK) , which I believe is for one of the several barrel makers, whose name begins with a K, such as Kelber,( maybe another one). By the location of this mark, I would guess the original barrel was his. If that is correct, that would mean MM likely did the relining work. As I recall, from something Axel wrote, the 1934 Leipzig Deutsches Bundesschiessen was the last one held in that form. After this, I believe everyone had to switch to "Training " rifles( I think 22) in the effort to build up the Army. ( I would guess, smaller local matches may have continued, but I don't know this.)
