Help interpret proof marks and other marks & symbols on my Martini 577-450 Sporter

    Hello All,

Here are the specs of this rifle ....
    28-3/4" Bbl - 14-1/4" LOP - 7 lbs 6 oz - Trap Butt - 2-Leaf Express Sight - Moon Flip-Over Front Sight -

I am interested in what all the markings mean .... best as I can describe, marks are as follows ...

    "T.BLAND" on action - Bbl stamps "Crown / BP ? ?" .... "450" "1323" "45" "2054" "JG" "11.3" "*/AE" " "PJG" "EL" "JJH" - Assy No. 43 on forend, bbl, and action.

Not sure about the proof marks where the barrel joins the action ... looks like a crown over an italic BP but can't tell.

any help would be appreciated ....

    Buckstix,
We specialize in Germanic guns and are not as much "in tune" with other proof marks. Some members of this forum also contribute to the Nitro Express site and may be more familiar with English proofs. Maybe one of them will come into the discussion and answer the question. I did notice that one of the marks looks suspiciously like a Belgian Provisional proof mark. This may mean that the blank barrel was sourced from Belgium, or it may not.

      Hello mike ford,

      Thanks for the reply.

Yes, I know this is the "go-to" site for Germanic guns, but in the past I've had very helpful information from this forum about guns with Belgium and unknown Proof marks. I thought to include the forum members here in my search for information.

It turns out my quest has ended with a Factory Letter from T. Bland that explains the mixed proof marks. A big thanks to those that contacted me directly.
