    Hello mike ford,

    Thanks for the reply.

I never "set" the triggers on any of my double rifles, after having learned the lesson of which you speak. We'll see if it happens again on the next time out.

      Hello buckstix

      regarding the provenance:
Rock Island Auctions had in their last auction (April, with your rifle) and in the one before (December) several guns which claimed the same provenance: "German prince etc"
Among these guns some more from Miller & Greiss, and some from Rieger in München and Neumeyer in Freising (close to Munich).

In the December auction was this one:
      https://www.rockislandauction.com/de...ouble-barreled

So maybe we should not exclude the German prince or more exactly Bavarian prince theory.
Or at least "some wealthy guy from the Munich area theory"...

        Just speculating:
this rifle may be key to the question:
        https://www.rockislandauction.com/de...service-musket

So this may be the man:
        https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prince_Leopold_of_Bavaria

He was an avid hunter, even writing a book about "his hunting memories"

          Hello fuhrmann

          Thanks for the reply.

I don't think that is the Prince. Rock Island Auction Co. stated to me that the Prince was "still alive" in Austria, and that "he" was the one that consigned the items that were sold in the Dec. 2017 and the Apr, 2018 auctions. I think that perhaps this might be a clue to the seller.

              Hello buckstix

we are talking about different princes.
I was thinking of the one who bought these guns.
Your prince might be the descendant, the one who is still alive and selling out great-granddaddy's gun cabinet.

                Hello fuhrmann,

                Thanks for the reply.

I guess I'll have to wait to see if Rock Island Auction passed-on my name, and if someone contacts me.
