    Hello All,

Well, everything went well this afternoon. The rifle now has a new chamber. It took about an hour from start to finish.

I loaded 10 cartridges and went to the range for a test run. I'm very pleased with the results. And, it only took 5 minutes to resize and reload the 10 fired cases. The picture shows the 10 reloaded 6.5x48R-30/30 cartridges ready for another run tomorrow. At the top is one alongside an original 6x48R Sauer cartridge.

Average velocity of ten shots was 2255 fps with a 120g Sierra SP. SD was 15 fps. And, most important, no signs of excessive pressure; the rifle had easy bolt-lift after firing. Although this is less than I estimated, I think I'll leave this as my load for the rifle. It should still be good for small and medium size game out to about 200 yds. Trajectory is "plus" 2-1/4" at 100 yds = "minus" 2-1/4" at 200 yds. Besides, 200 yards is about the farthest my old eyes can aim with iron sights.

      buckstix,
There is nothing wrong with that group, and 2225 fps is all you really need.

        Hello mike ford,

        Thanks for the reply.

Its actually "2255 fps" mv. Yesterday I got the sights dialed in:

        1-1/4" high at 50 yds
        2-1/4" high at 100 yds
        1-1/8" high at 150 yds
        2-1/4" -low at 200 yds

I got tired of this one always sitting in the back of the safe and crying "take me" every time I would take out a rifle to go hunting. But without ammo it only got oiled and put back.

Now, at 6 pounds 5 ounces, it will be my "walk-about" gun in the Wisconsin woods this fall.
