  • Need information and possible value of my Henrich Barella Drilling

I inherited this gun and another gun from my grandfather. It is a Henrich Barella drilling. I have the original Carl Zeiss Scope stamped H. Barella as well. I also have what I believe to be the original leather scope ring civers and scope case. I would like to know what the rifle barrel is chambered at. I know it is off caliber. I also would like to know any history available on it. Also possible insurance value. Any helpw would be appreciated asI was not told much about this weapon. Actually ,we rarely saw them as he kept them locked up and out of reach, Thank you in advance.

What is cool about the workmanship besides all the engraving is when you select the rifle switch, the rear iron sight flips up, when selecting back to shotgun, it lays down. I love that. I took it to a local gunshop, and all the guys behind the counter stopped working when they saw it. None could price it or even offer me direction. I did find an auction sight that said 8 to 10k and wanted to sell it. They hounded me for a month. Its not for sale. The ine thing I do remember my grandfather saying is that these pre war guns were rare to find the scope and weapon together. Most got seperated in the war.

Also, the rifle barrels are nitro stamped. Once ai figure out the correct rifle barrel, I can then seperate out all the ammo I have for it that he kept in his safel then I may have quite a bit of european rifle cartridges I may be willing to part with. Hint hint...

Hmmm....8-10k USD? I would make them guarantee that in writing. Nice set up you have with family history glad your keeping it. I have a few with the original mated scopes and use them in the field every year. Take a few pics of what is stamped under the barrel then we can tell you more...like the caliber and date of manufacture.

Maybe. I have a ton of european caliber ammo. Like 3 full packing boxes. All different calibers. I havent really tried to chamber any of them. Might give that a go just to rule out what is too big and too small. Will take it appart and take some more pics of the markings for sure. I do know the shotgun barrels are 12 guage shells. So good there. I have a side by side Kessler as well. Will post that once I get this one figured out.

Yes, iI thought it was a little high in there estimate. But the guy was crazy about the gun for some reason. I definetly think it would be priced on the higher end for most drilkings I have come across due to its condition, and having the matched scope and scope box and ring set. But thats why I am here. To understand the origin and the worth.

Careful, if it is 12 gauge, it could be a shorter version then our 2 3/4. Let's see the pics of the underside...

Anyone here will tell u to have a qualified gunsmith do a chambercast....measure the chambers...etc....etc.

Pull the handguard and pull the barrel from the receiver. That will show the markings that can get you started.
