  • Combination chambers

Hello again, I could not pass on this combination gun at a local gun show. I have looked but am stumped on the caliber 10.2 x 61. Does this mean 10.4 x 61 for bullet size? This is my second combination gun and I still find the chamberings confusing. Any help is greatly apriciated .image.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpg

The gun was proofed in Suhl 632 =June 1932. It was retailed by P. Vasella, Grabenstr. 15, Chur, Switzerland http://www.vasella-chur.ch/waffen.htm . So a Swiss chambering is likely.
The markings for the bore/land diameter 10.2mm, maximum case length 61 mm, copper jacketed bullet weight 17 gramm, ar compatible with the 10.3x60R Swiss "Bündnerpatrone", a smokeless version of the old British .450-400 2 3/8" BPE. The current CIP dimensions are bore 10.25 mm, groove 10.49 mm, max case length 60.8 mm. Max bullet Diameter is 10.54 mm =.413". As bore diameters were marked in .1 mm increments, 10.2 covers 10.25 mm. The original Swiss load "Patrone # 270" had a 16.4 g = 253 gr bullet at 685 m/s = 2250 fps. The current RWS load features a 12 g = 185 gr GR Special bullet at 895 m/s = 2936 fps.

            Ranman,
I believe you can use .348 Win. cases. Cast bullets shouldn't be much of a problem. You may have to search a little bit for .348 cases, they may be "seasonal items".

              Ranman,

Mike is correct, they can be made from .348 Win brass but may be very slightly short. Midway has Jamison .348 listed as in stock and the price isn't bad.

              Thanks, Diz

                Axel E,
Thanks for the link. I shall order new correct head stamp rounds while they are available. Reloading from .348 is a great option as I have a supply of brass . Thanks
