Travelled the short 4 hours from Ohio to be at the opening on Friday at 9 a.m. in Louisville KY. Well work the time and planning!!
Spent some time at the GGCA booth and enjoyed the conversation and the exhibit of an African hunting camp German Style! Very Nice!!
Missed the opportunity to talk with Fritz Berendsen. I had sent an e-mail to him over a month ago about possibly purchasing a drilling on an auction site in Germany. He called me one evening (from Germany) and spent much time explaining how such sites operate without the opportunity to check on specifics of the firearm. I was greatly impressed he spent this amount of time and made the telephone call from Germany. I did not expect him to do this!
I also spent time talking with the Krieghoff's rep. (Alexander Diehl) about the double & triple barrel rifle drilling (the triple barrel drilling was on display and allowed us to handle it) and the Merkel's representative (Einar Hoff) about their drillings (could handle their drilling 12X12X 30--06 and a double rifle 30-06) and double rifle drillings and double barrel rifles (no double rifle drilling on hand). Well worth the time!!
A special thanks to the firearms/scope and reloading representatives for their complete willingness to answer any question!!!!!!
Rechecked the guide and saw that Blaser was there. I missed seeing their booth. I wanted to see and hold a Blaser D 99 and possible the B 95 & 97. I believe their absence was a mistake!!
Key is getting their first thing in the am by 11:00 am very crowded. Attending allow one to handle any firearm, rifle scope, accessories on display.
At the NRA show in Pittsburgh, PA I mentioned to a Winchester rep. that they should bring back the Model 70 Winchester in .22 Hornet and .17 Hornet. The response was it would never happen! Friday I discussed the same idea with a Winchester rep. the answer this time was- we are getting a lot of requests for both calibers in the Model 70. We do not have a time line but it will probably happen!
The lesson is ask and get others to ask, anything is possible.!!!!!!
Parking at 7 a.m. was not a problem. Finding a restroom was.
Please purchase raffle tickets for the GGCA firearm drawing before the end of this month!!
Thanks!
Jim McKee
