Mike, thanks again for your prodigious knowldege. I know it might not be a "real" Fred Adolph, but I love it. I'm waiting for my favorite gun smith, Michael Merker to have the time to work on it and make it even better. Re: the scope. One of your options is probably best. Finding a vintage scope that will fit the rings and still give me eye relief will be a pain. So I'll start looking for a "new" scope...unless Axel can give me another option ;-). BTW, the distance from the Kahles to the comb is a whopping 12". No wonder I can't see out of it. Sam

Jillandsam, what is the diameter of your current scope tube? If it is 1" tube there are nice vintage Weaver scopes that may work well as they have longer eye relief than most scopes. Some of the old fixed low power models are long so you might be able to get one closer to your eye too. That scope on your rifle looks short to me. If your scope rings are smaller than 1" you could have a gunsmith alter the bottom ring to fit a 1" tube scope and reshape it to resemble original German mounts that were soldered to the scope. After they are reblued just epoxy the new scope in the lower rings and you can't tell it isn't the real thing. I have done this on several guns I have owned. I use JB Weld epoxy. I have some Weaver scopes if you would like to check it out. If your in the US .
