    kcordell,

You may want to double check that because I contacted Gary the new president about the double rifle event and he told me that they were not having any rifle shooting at this event. He did say that they are looking into bringing it back in the future. I couldn't find anything about rifles events on their web site. Actually, I hope I am misinformed as the stopping rifle was my favorite event.

    Thanks, Diz

They say rifle on their site... that's all I can go by.

        kcordell,

That's very interesting since I understood that the Vintagers had reincorporated as the Vintage Gunners but both sights call out the same date and location. I am somewhat confused but that's not surprising! If they are shooting the big rifles I'll be there! Need to check further. Thanks for the followup.

I was told at the southern SxS sporting clay event that there was going to be rifle events and I volunteered to sponsor the event. There will probably be more information on the site as it is being organized.

            Leatherman,

It was nice to meet you at the S-SxS. Info on the Vintage Cup is a little thin at the moment and I couldn't find any applications for entry anywhere. It's still a bit early but I am glad they are going to shoot the other events. It sets it apart from the other matches.

For those looking for a double rifle shooting event the National Muzzleloading Rifle Association located in Friendship Indiana has added a black powder double rifle cartridge and black powder muzzleloading double and cape gun events to there twice a year national shoots in June and September. The targets are the the original steel targets that were used at the Vintigers for many years. It was introduced two years ago and has been successful attracting over 20 shooters. Cartridges have to be loaded with black powder, no smokeless or duplex loads allowed. If you have an old double rifle regardless of origin and want to shoot it in a friendly competition please come to Friendship. Information on the shoot can be found on the NMLRA website.

I just spoke with Tom Devers who has been in contact with the organizers of the Vintagers. The GGCA will have tables there, we will have a gun seminar-probably on Saturday, there will be a Drilling event that we will sponsor, and there will be a double rifle competition. Bring your guns and Loden. Any suggestions for a hotel?
Update: There are still rooms available but are expected to go fast. The organizers took a block of rooms at a couple of hotels and you will have to call them directly. They are the Quality Suites in Chestertown MD (tell them it is for the Vintagers at Hopkins Game Farm) and the Hampton Inn in Middletown, DE (use code HGF).
