      Hello

Don´t know if this relevant but an Anton Tomann from Wörgl is mentioned in the Feldkircher Zeitung (September 16 1899) in connection with something given as Ehren- und Freischiessen in Feldkirch.

He is again mentioned in he Voralberger Volksblatt (July 20 1909) in connection with Freischiessen.

I also found him in the Bregenzer/Voralberger Tagblatt (August 25 1912) and in the Voralberger Landes-Zeitung (Agust 26 1912) and now it´s about something called Armeeserienscheibe 300 m and Meisterscheibe 150 m.

What may be of interest is that he turns up in 1928 (Amtliche Linzer Zeitung March 16) under something called Konkursedikt. Apparently he had had something named Handelsgesellschaft, Handelsagentur und Kommisionsgewerbe in Linz. Why Linz I don´t know. In 1929 there was something about a Konkursaushebung (spelling!) together with a Hermine Tomann, and apparently also some salamifabrik involvement in 1929.

The above is just suggestions for further research. May not even be the same A. Tomann. Can´t provide images as my best computer is down with virus. Tried helping someone on a forum who asked about a Drilling. Downloaded one lousy image in order to enhance it and that was enough. I estimate I had something between 1000 to 1200 ads saved. All from between 1865 to 1946. I know, I should have known better. If I am able to restore the computer I´ll check for Tomanns among the ads.

      Kind regards
      Peter

        Hello

Sorry to bother again but I found him. In the Bludenzer Anzeiger (September 3 1910) an Anton Tomann is given as Büchsenmacher. To me it seems he contributed to some charity regarding some disaster with water but I´m not sure.

        Kind regards
        Peter

Thank you Peter for the information. My wife gave me a schuetzen rifle for Christmas, the only marking on the rifle is A Tomann Worgl. I believe the rifle is the oldest of my small collection, probably before 1893.
          Thanks Mike

            Hello

Apparently there was an A. Tomann, Büchsenmacher, staying at Hotel Erzherzog (spelling!) Johann, Graz I believe, some time in June 1907. This is the earliest mentioning of a Büchsenmacher Tomann that I´ve been able to find - so far!

By the way, I believe we may leave this salamifabrik-Tomann aside. Let´s just say there were more than one A(nton) Tomann. If he is the same leads are Schubertstrasse and Museumstrasse, Linz.

            Kind regards
            Peter

My Tomann is a Von Schatzl martini, no engraving and a very small amount of carving. I am going to have to manufacture a v main spring & work on the lugs to raise the block. Oh well it will be fun & I will have a sense of accomplishment when it fires it's first round in many years down range.
                    Thanks Mike
