  • New guy with an old drilling

Hello everyone and thanks to the admin for getting to join the site. A little about me, works nag n Germany, just got back really , I was in Europe from 1992 until 2013 PCS back to El Paso and after 2 1/2 years there got sent back, I have a German hunting, fishing and reloading license and am now working on my sport shooting licenses, already had a WBK and imported guns back to Germany when I came back. So having said all that, I have a question for the form and since I'm new may not be the right place to ask this, if it's the wrong place admin let me know and I'll post where you say it needs to go. So here it s my question, I have just got a Sauer and sohn drilling in 16x16x 7x65rimmed, wonderful gun and I will try to up load the pictures of. The gun is from I think 1966, was ordered by one man from Sauer, I am the second owner, the gun is a little used but fantastic to me, only problem is the trigger guard is broke at the front mount screw and I need to find someone or a company, who sells the trigger guard. I wrote Sauer and sohn, but haven't heard back from them. Can anyone point me in the right direction or know a good gun smith who might be able to help? image.jpg

Here in Germany GFT near Nordhausen makes such triggerguards, see

S&S probably got their rough triggerguards from WEGU, predecessor of GFT, when they were still making drillings.

      Eurrider,
I have a Heym BBF that came with a "Kunsthorn" trigger guard that looked very much like yours. While stationed there, I had the trigger guard changed out to steel, along with some other work. This would be another option for you, and any local gunsmith could do the work for you. I couldn't tell from the photo, whether you have a scope or not. If not, I highly recommend you have one mounted in either claw or swing mounts, while you are there. An einstecklauf would be nice to have, even though not necessary. Any local hunter will be able to point you toward a gunsmith. I'm a little jealous of you.
      Mike
