Shot one was my first shot with the new scope and was at the very top edge of the paper. I made the adjustment with the scope and shot two was right in the bullseye so I didn't change it any more.

To calm down the velocities in my 9.3x72R, I had to go to a kapok filler. I tamped it down over the powder and for some 5 shot strings got 7 fps variation. For all of them the variation was very low in comparison. I suggest you try tamping the dacron tightly over the powder and give it a try.

Being new to useing fillers I didn't know if it would hurt to tamp the filler against the powder. I have read to use just enough filler to hold the powder back against the primer and yet still fill the case up to the bullet so the powder doesn't move forward. That sounded like I shouldn't pack the space with a lot of filler but it makes sense to me to have a little more as you say to hold it tighter for better uniformity. I will try that as well.

            Leatherman,
I didn't mean a lot, tamped over the powder, I meant a "tuft" tamped over the powder. There are a lot of differing of opinions about whether and how to use fillers. This is mine; others, whose opinions I respect, think mine is wrong, and theirs is right. Everyone has to decide for themselves.
