  • Need help identifying this gun

I recently bought this 16gauge which I am not sure on the maker. I'm wondering if it is a jp sauer or just the barrels. Could anyone give me any ideas along with aprrox year of manufacture? Any opinions or feedback would be appreciated.
    Thank you.

The DRPatent number 62231 points to the real maker. Friedrich Wilhelm Kessler (*1845, +1919), Kleine Backstrasse 1, Suhl, "gun factory", patented these sidelocks in 1892, see

So Kessler probably made this gun, at least to the "in the white" state. Maybe Kessler bought in the barrels from Sauer, as Sauer for some time was the sole distributor of Krupp's "three ring" barrel steel. A photo of the proof- and other marks under the barrels may give further hints.
The gun was retailed, perhaps finished, by Friedrich Jacob Bartels (*1869, +1926), Bahnhofstr. 5, Wiesbaden, gunmaker to the Grandduke of Hessia, business founded in 1893 by Carl Bartels, who died in 1906.
