  • new member would like any info on Langenhan 22 pistol

    Hello
New to the forum. Semi retired commercial fisherman in somewhat remote Alaska. this was a recent purchase with no knowledge beforehand. I've since id' it as a Langenhan model 1893. Anything anyone can tell me about this would be appreciated. Can it be fired with sub sonic ammo? Can anyone id a knowledgable gunsmith that give this a once over?

A nearly identical pistol to yours appeared in the 1972 GUNS OF THE WORLD publication (page 91). It is identified as a Practice pistol. The maker is unknown. And says, as is the case with so many pistols of this type, it is unmarked and only has proof marks to identify its origin. The one shown does not have the thumbsafety lever like yours does. I am quite sure it can be fired with sub sonic ammo without a problem. It was originally proof-tested with the .22 Long cartridge. There were many makers of this type of European Free Pistols. Regards, Jim Cate

Thanks, I even found a little on this site. Member ellenbr posted in a thread: http://www.germanguns.com/upload/sho...ight=langenhan Looks like the same gun without the safety. Maybe he's still an active member.

Raimey is still very active. I expect he'll be along in a bit. There are several knowledgeable fella's on here who can help you more than I did.
