Deutz & Geldermann was a French – German sparkling wine house with branches both in France, Deutz, and Germany, upto 1918 in then German Alsace. As Alsace came to France then, They founded the German company "Deutz & Geldermann" in Breisach, east bank of the Rhine, in 1925. The company existed until 1995, when it split up and the branches sold. See:

Axel, as always, a huge thank you as you are a wealth of knowledge. I suspect since it is DRGM marked than just probably from the twenties or perhaps thirties I would suspect?

My uneducated guess: late 1920s
The DRGM probably refers to the unusual locking mechanism: The small lever with the ring seems to block the spring. Most likely not made in Solingen, the German "Sheffield" or cutlery capital. The Solingen bladesmiths usually marked their wares "Solingen", "Me fecit Solingen" or "Made in Solingen" since the middle Ages. As I am not a knife collector I cannot identify the "S + wings" mark of the maker.

Axel (and others), my great uncle brought an identical example back from Germany (purchased in Heidelberg) in 1928. He was over (several times) visiting relatives and beautiful women....He never married. One of my cousins still has the 'as new' knife. Best regards, Jim
