  • Opinion On This Drilling

Hi all, as I know next to nothing on drillings, I was hoping you all could help me out. What's your opinion of this one:

What should I look for when looking for a good drilling?

    Any comments would be great!

    Thanks so much!

Looks nice, a little expensive. It was made by Heinrich Krieghoff, not S and K. The main thing is that everything works and no barrel defects.

Thanks for the info. I'm new to drillings, so how can you tell that it's a Kreighoff and not a Sempert-Kreighoff and what is the difference between the them? Is there a difference in quality? Also, do you know what model this might be? Any additional info would be great!

      Thanks again!!!!

The drilling is chambered for a great caliber in the rifle barrel. It is avaliable in US, and is easy to handload for(same dia bullets as US 7mm). It is likely to be regulated for 173 gr bullet, resighting for bullet lighter than 160gr is likely to be an ordeal with the typical drilling sights. Shotgun barrels are short chambered(65mm VS 70mm)unless it has been rechambered. Drillings of this type and age can usually be rechambered or at least have forcing cone lengthened, after checking by gunsmith.I agree with Germanguns 1234 that it is a little expensive. For the price, it would be better if it had a scope. It may be Sempert and Kreighoff, I couldn't get a clear look at makers name on the bottom, but it sure looks like one of the words may be "Sempert".

So......what in your opinion would be a fair price for this one?

My opinion is not worth any more than anyone elses, I wouldn't want to pay more than $1200-1500. A "hands on" examination might increase it, but I don't think so. To be fair, I know most of these are priced more than I think they are worth. On the other hand, if you watch them, the higher priced ones stay on the auction sites for a long time, if they sell at all. The ones that are listed as a normal auction with no reserve and no high initial bid seem to sell quickly at a reasonable price.
