    Hello Fellow Aficians,
New member and new 1st time owner of a German sporter.
Funny, I've haven't been this excited about buying a rifle, since I bought my first 30-30- some 40 years ago.
    Huh! Go figure.
I'm going to have to feed this one handmades, can't seem to find much smoke fodder pre made in 8x60mm in .318. That's OK by me anyway was needing an excuse to open the box on that RCBS press I got for Christmas back in 84, and besides the more difficult the task, the more rewarding the payoff! I'll get to know her much better if I'm the dietitian....
I've read some about this Mauser and have seen threads about being able to run the .323's through it, but I'm not sure.
I'll have to wait and see what I learn out here from some of you folks.
Anybody got any insight they would like to share, feel free to chime at me
I'll forward some pictures when I get it in my hands, and the old lady ain't around (she don't know I spent a grand! LOLOLO) Go ahead divorce me, see if I care!

    Saddletramp,
There is no doubt that we can figure out something to feed your rifle. You can make cases from 30-06(or 270 or 25-06), or you can buy them. Bullets that will fit your rifle are avaliable, you may need .318 but more than likely .321. It's also pretty possible that .323 will work. You should slug the barrel and find the groove diameter. Also you should fire a round (you may have to "cobble" something together to do this.If you can borrow a bullet, cast is fine, close to the correct size, it will help)in the rifle and see what size bullet will easily fit into the fired case. If a .323 fits, you can likely use it, if not, use a smaller one. When you send photos, be sure to include photos of the proof marks on the underside of the barrel. Buffalo Arms may be helpful in finding bullets, cases, dies, etc. Graf and Sons may even have ammo. Good luck.
    Mike
