  • do Mannlicher-Schoenauer 's count?

so in the middle of buying this , it has been professionally restored, the gun came to previous owner covered in fire engine red paint,....yes paint! he was a gunsmith it took him about three weeks to take all the paint off the gun, he knew a Steyr rep that took the rifle and sent it back to Steyr for re blue, it took six-months to get it back, he stripped the wood and did what work needed to be done on it,,,,, here is the result's of his labor

      Packmule,
Very nice, I've wanted a 1903 carbine a long time.

Axel, This is an impressive collection, didn't you show the 1910 with a pig you shot with it, in WAIDMANNSHEIL?

yes very nice collection Axel, and a lot of Gibbs,,,,,, Mike that has been one of my "have to have at least one before I die guns" aka..."Bucket List 'O' Guns" for a long time also, I was able to make a deal on it and I look forward to taking it out in the field a few times before it goes in the deep dark hole that my Brand new 1950 ,99 Savage is in......~rj

Once I wipe the drool off my keyboard from admiring Axel's collection I'll mention the 1903....there, clean keyboard...

I hope M/S count! I have a really soft spot for those delightful little full stock carbines. I've been working with a 1903 and finally have it shooting pretty good. Had to glass bed the action to tighten the groups, it walked terribly. I learned mine absolutely does not like boat tail bullets. Flat base shoot pretty good.

That's a simply gorgeous 1903. I would part with a few teeth to have an aperture sight like that on mine. Very nice.

One of my German hunting friends had a Mod 1903 that his father had given him as a boy. He was raised on the training area Grafenwoehr, since his father was the Forester there. Using this rifle, he basically shot the abschuss plan for his father over many years, shooting 300 Red Deer, 300 pigs,600 Reh(in round numbers)and he also had about 5 Auerhahn in his living room(although I'm not sure if he used the 03, or if his wife took 1 or more with her own 03-she also hunted with us). To say I was impressed with his rifle is an understatement. On the other hand, I'm not like him, I'm more like Axel ;I couldn't be satisfied with one rifle.I should have noted that most of the animals he shot were small males, females, and young-but still impressive record.
                    Axel,
                    I'm jealous.

That's a bunch of game, more than I'll probably ever experience shooting.

We all know I'm not satisfied with "just one"....
