Hello everyone. I finally made the plunge.
16ga built April 1926. Can't tell if its original or rebuilt. If it was rebuilt they did a very nice job. Sling swivels are missing on stock and barrel.
Would enjoy feedback and value information.

Can you grab an image with less lighting? On the A&D action body sporting weapon w/ 1/2 pipe side frame reinforcement there looks to be a K above the smoothbore proofs and then a Star over H as seen on examples by Gebhard Helmuthhauser /Gebhard Helmuthäuser a Buchsenmachermeister employed by G.C./Carl Gottleib Haenel or by Hänel.

There is indeed a star over H. Also notice the S over H in center of barrels. K is present as you observed. Interesting stamp on forend lug.

Your gun was proofed in Suhl in April 1926, as you surmised. It is chambered for 65mm(2 1/2")shells, instead of the current 70mm(2 3/4")standard length shells. Both barrels are choked, but the degree of choke is not shown( usually very tight, compared with todays standard).The missing sling swivels are likely because of some American's aversion to slings. As for myself, I prefer a sling on everything.

Did you see a marking for the 65mm or is it just the lack of a 70mm marking (it is 2 1/2). Chokes are quite tight at .025 and .028. I would really like to add the swivels back but I'm afraid finding the correct ones may be difficult.

Rex,
The 16 in a circle is the mark for the normal length chamber, which was 65mm, at the time. Anything other than normal would have been marked( 70 mm for 2 3/4" or 76mm for 3"). I'm sure New England Custom Guns (see the Trade Directory in Waidmannsheil) can help with swivels as they carry Recknagel items.Proper ones would be for about 3/4" slings.
