We rec'd an inquiry about this gunmaker:

I am trying to find anything on this combination 16 ga./8x57JR. It has a 4 digit serial number and is 95% or better. It has the name Robert Kahl Suhl Germany on it. Beautiful engraving!

Anyone have any information?

Robert Kahl first appears in Suhl in the years before the new proof rules around 1911-12. As Systemmacher. First mentioned as self-employed B?chsenmacher in the late 1920's/early 1930's. Still in Suhl post WW2.

Interesting thing about him is that he is in Suhl att the same time he isn't. Crafty bugger. Several Kahl's performed this magic trick, it seems.

EDIT: I was wrong. late 1924 he seemingly had a B?chsenmacherei. At least four, maybe five, locations in Suhl are given for him.
