  • Der Waffenschmied No. 45 - Collath Guns

I just finished reading our latest journal featuring Collath guns and was blown away by yet another very informative and high quality piece of work. It was a real treat to read the articles written by our members Axel Eichendorff, Fredrik Franzen and Bernd Kellner. The photography is nicely done and the G. Teschner & Co. catalog that came with the journal was a very nice touch.

Having been a member for almost nine years I have enjoyed reading many such articles in our journals and newsletters written by our aforementioned contributors, our founder Dietrich Apel, our current president Tom Devers, Jon Spencer, Dick Hummel and others and was just thinking that these gentlemen do not get enough thanks for all they have done and a still doing.

Cheers gentlemen and thank you very much for many years of good reading and an education that has been made easy with your generous contributions.

    Best regards and Waidmannsheil!

    Mark Baumgarten

I must echo Mr. Baumgarten's very appropriate praise. Such high-quality work is indeed appreciated, and the preservation of such wonderful information as the catalog reprints is of INESTIMABLE value to anyone who collects or studies these works of art. My hat is off to you all!

Although I don't have my issue yet, I was able to borrow another members issue to read. Great work and I appreciate the fine detail and research done on this specific gunmaker. When I bought my first Collath many years ago, I was quite unfamiliar with the maker however, loved the quality of the drilling and the engraving was fantastic. I could not find any data on the net about Collath arms whatsoever but when searching for additional specimens, found many variants. I use one of my Collaths regularly for upland game and deer. It has become a real prize for me. Thanks for the time spent here....wonderful work.
