COW lists this with a .250 diameter bullet which is a rare bird. Is this correct?

Apparently both COTW and Dixon miked them in front of the case mouth? An undated pre-WW1 RWS bullet catalog lists those 18mm long, 5.7g = 88gr bullets, loaded in the 6.5x40R as well as 6.5x27R, with a diameter of 6.53 mm = .257". Slug your barrel! I would try 60 -75 gr bullets intended for the .25-20.
