  • B. Fritz EL Question

Does anyone know how the muzzle sleeve is retained on a 2011 vintage Fritz Einstecklauf?
This EL (5.6x50R Mag) has an aluminum sleeve and two set screws on the breech end of the sleeve.
A similar length 22 Hornet Fritz EL has a steel sleeve with no set screws.
    Thanks,
    Otto

With a little chalk, I was able to see the B. Fritz markings on the breech end of the EL.

The front sleeve was attached to the barrel by a very tight press fit at the rear 1.1” of the sleeve. No threads and no adhesive. The four metric Allen head screws were positioned over four small flats machined in the barrel. There were no locking screws in the front of the sleeve.
When I compare the 5.6x50R EL (blued EL) to the 22 Hornet EL (polished steel in first post), they are essentially the same, in terms of design and quality of construction, except for the two front sleeves.
The 22H has a beautiful finished steel front sleeve, with tapered pins accessed from the front, to move the barrel.
By comparison, the 5.6 x50 R EL has a simple turned aluminum sleeve, that would have to be removed to adjust the barrel position.
I think that it’s possible that the 5.6x50 EL may have an after market front sleeve.
I doubt that there are many still alive who would be familiar with the technical details of Fritz's EL’s construction.
Maybe there is someone at Keppler, who might know, as they trace their company back to Fritz.

If the EL barrel is fixed at the front of the sleeve by the adjusting screws and at the rear by a tight press fit of the barrel to the sleeve, I don't see how the adjusting screws can move the bore axis. Am I missing something?
