Little wonder the Ortgies pistols in 9 mm kurz aka .380 ACP are very rare. As your photo shows, your .32 was made by Deutsche Werke AG, the renamed Erfurt rifle factory, from 1921 on. A design feature of the Ortgies pistol was: The caliber could be changed from .32 to .380 by just changing the barrel. This led to the downfall of both the Ortgies pistol and the factory. The Versailles treaty prohibited making pistols or ammo in 9 mm or larger, no matter of case length. .380 ammo was unavailable in Germany anyhow. .380 barrels were made for export only. By 1923 the allied disarmament commission got wise: The making of such easily convertible pistols was outlawed, Ortgies production stopped and the factory dismantled for good. Looking for an Ortgies in 9 mm k you have to go to South America where such pistols were exported to.
