    A friend has a hunting sword for sale. I have loiked these things but don't know much about them. Can anyone tell the age from the photos? What ight the value be?

      This is a decorative „Hirschfaenger” = deer catcher. Originally a hunting tool, it is degenerated here ino a pure ornament to be worn with the uniform of Schuetzen clubs on parades and Schuetzenfests. Made by Carl Eickhorn (=”squirrel”), Solingen. Too fragile for practical use. Value over here Euro 200 – 500. Still available as an accutrement:

        I paid $300 for one some years ago It has an acid etched blade and acorn studs on the deer horn. I don't use it for hunting
