    rfo1,
Welcome, we are happy to have you with us. We can likely offer additional information about your rifle if you post photos of all markings, especially proof marks found underneath the forearm on the barrels. If the proof marks happen to be pre-1911 type, a chamber cast may be necessary to determine the chambering. One of the photos seems to show a proof mark on the side of the barrel (even though I couldn't read it) so it was proofed post Mar. 1893. Good legible photos may allow a closer determination of age. This looks like a nice rifle; you are lucky to own it.

Remember German guns and their calibers are like a box of chocolates. You never know what your going to get. I hope you plan on getting it shooting. Do get some chamber casting metal from any source like buffalo arms, Roto Metals, Brownells. And make a cast of the chamber. All you need is a soup can without the paper, a coat hanger to make a handle on the soup can, and a propane torch. I’m sure there is a video on how to do it on U-Tube. I bend the top of the soup can to make a narrow spout to pour from. Stand the barrels straight up , best in a vise. Lube the barrels with a light oil and plug the barrels about 1” ahead of the chambers with paper towel or tissue so you get some of the rifling. Pour the melted metal even to the top of the extractors so you get the rim depth and diameter. Immediately Use a cleaning rod or a wooden dowel to knock the casting out using a hammer to knock it free. Should not need to hit it too hard. You will need a caliper tool to make measurements . Post the measurements and we will try and figure out what you have and how to go about making brass and bullets. Include a picture of the casting too.
