Birscbuechsen is an old alternative spelling of Pirschbuechsen, literally stalking rifles, used for single barrel hunting rifles of any action type, break-open, falling block or bolt action. sowie = as well as Wehrmannsgewehre = „military“ form target rifles, most often single shots in 8.15x46R with Mauser actions, stocked and sighted like Gewehr 98 military rifles. Used for military style matches. Mostly post-WW1 when owning real military rifles and ammo in 8x57 was prohibited. Besides, most local Schuetzen ranges did not allow jacketed bullets and the common and readily reloadable Schuetzenpatrone = target cartridge 8.15 was cheaper to come by and shoot.
