The rifle that started the obsession with German schuetzen rifles the first of too many. I bought it in 1984, the bore is nearly perfect. Do to the stock I was never able to obtain a sight picture, so I haven’t shot it in 15 years or so. That was with glasses, I now don’t need glasses, so I am going to try again Friday. It is a very plane Jane, no engraving or carving, when I got it I don’t believe it had ever been fired.

Well the trip to the range was fruitless, 170gr stop ring at 1200 fps still couldn’t obtain a sight picture at 200 yards. I was about to put it away for another 20 years, when I remembered that CZ 527 rifles had a 16mm dove tail. Got out the micrometer and sure enough the dove tail on the barrel was 16mm. The rings came today, I had to file off a small locator bar on one of the rings, use a .015 shim under the rings, they mount solid. I had a Weaver KW-6 scope knocking around for 30 years never mounted on a rifle do to very fine cross hairs with a very small dot. I don’t like both rings ahead of the adjustment, but it is a steel body scope and the rifle recoils very little. Bore sighted it, now to the range. I am an open sight guy, but this is the only way I’ll be able to shoot this rifle.
