    magyar,
The most common traditional insert barrel( einstecklauf) was locked in with a "key" that had a small square end, this one doesn't seem to have that type lock. Is it a short insert or full length? If it is full length, post a photo of the front end if possible. If it is a short one, try "bumping" it out with a dowel from the muzzle end ( to see if it is held in by spring loaded plunger(s). Do you happen to know the "make" of the insert? Let us know what happens when you "bump" it.

It's rather long, about 20". I'll work on a picture.
      no discernable markngs.

If it is much shorter than full length, it is not likely to lock at the muzzle end( the "key" wouldn't reach). I would go ahead and try "bumping" it back out from the front with a dowel. Once you get it out, if or how it locks in should become clear, as would the "make".

Before trying to bump it out, pull back the Extractor as far as it will go. There were designs like the Burgsmueller Columbus, where the extractor worked like a wedge forcing a spring leaf against the chamber wall. This locked the insert in place.

Dowl didn't budge the insert...after closer inspection I have discovered a small shield with an S and possibly a cross within.
looking down the bore, it appears there is a barrel with a ring around it and possibly a spoke. Coming off it.any ideas?

              magyar,
If the "ring" is eccentric with a screwdriver slot, it is the device to regulate the point of impact of the bullet, The "spoke" is likely a spring loaded plunger that keeps the eccentric in contact with the shot barrel so the insert barrel moves when the eccentric is turned. One of my insert barrels( einstecklauf EL) is regulated by this method. I would advise you to consider Axel's suggestions superior to mine as he likely has more experience with ELs, than I. In the meantime, when I get a chance I will go to the vault and.. check the one I have that seems to be regulated like yours and see what I can determine. I installed it some 38 years ago so the particulars are a little fuzzy now.

                magyar,
I checked the EL that regulates with an eccentric and it locks in with a wedge similar to the other common ones, except the wedge is activated by a small screwdriver, instead of a "key". Also the extractor is about 1/3 the circumference of the back end of the EL wide. I suggest you try Axel's idea again an try to bump it out, using a little more force.

Ah, it's held in just by "O" rings. I can't clearly tell if the muzzle end is eccentric for regulation of POI. It is different than any of mine. Thanks.
