  • G.L. Rasch SXS ID?

I have this old 12 gauge 65mm SXS. Rib marked G.L. Rasch, Braunschweig, barrels J.P. Sauer & Sohn, Suhl. I wish I know the model and when it was made. The horn pistol grip and fancy trigger guard caught my eye and it fits me so well. Did well on the skeet range with it despite its full chokes. It has auto safety, no ejectors. It's a Sauer & Sohn model 8 with Ernst Kerner's 1911 top hinged sears. The serial number dates it to 1913. The gun was retailed by Rasch in Brunswik. You may find something about the Raschs here: http://www.germanhuntingguns.com/feature-articles/larrys-article/ The fancy Belgian style trigger guard and the horn pistol grip may have been added by Rasch as they did quite often.

Axel, you are the best! What will the GGCA do without you? I hope they have a life insurance policy on you. I was looking at all those German gun makers on that web site but it was before I bought the shotgun. Out of sight out of mind.
