  • Help with a couple of old german guns please! Hamacher Nachf drilling and W Foerster

Pls see the photos for tags with descriptions. What you see is all I know. My cousin is helping with an ill collector who is selling a number of guns. Any info that could be provided as far as rarity or value would be appreciated. No idea how tight the hinges are or bore condition, have to have another look at them. There is a problem with the VOLUME of items this gentleman has. A wide taste in guns as shown by the variety.Buckets of swords, trunks full of uniforms. 50 years of collecting. Thank you.
(Problem with photos, pls check back, working on this.

I assume one is a successor to W. Hamacher of Düsseldorf? I'd really like to see the W. Foerster if it has the Berlin address. Email me the images & I'll be glad to post them for you.

Are you positive on the chambering on the W. Hamacher? I wonder if W. Hamacher of Düsseldorf is the same Hamacher that developed the Hamacher Universal cartridge or 9.3X85R? Images of the marks of all would aide in the ID.

            Kind Regards,

              W. Hamacher, Graf-Adolf-Str.106, Düsseldorf, is documented from 1896 to 1916, so a gun marked "W.Hamacher Nachf." = successor(s) to W.H. should be post-WW1. At that time the various 9.3x72R cartridges were already standardized to the "N" shape, normalized. The 9.3x85R "Hamacher Universal Kugelhülse" = universal rifle case was not a cartridge nor a chambering, but sort of a basic case, meant to be shortened to any of the other "D" shaped 9.3 mm lengths, 36, 45, 48, 57, 70, 72, 80 or 82mm.

                Axel,
That is interesting.I didn't realize someone marketed a basic case this long.It would be helpful if we had such a case today,at a decent price.Thanka for the info.
