Help!!

I have a Richard Marhoff & Sohns drilling and I need all three small leaf springs that operate the internal hammers. Anybody know who might carry these type of parts? I just sent an email to New England Custom Guns and am awaiting a reply. The gun is with the gunsmith now (who, thank god, is knowledgable about combo guns) and he is also trying to find the springs or some that might work. He asked me to try to find them on the web as well.
Any suggestions? Hunting season is around the corner!!

Just as a first swag I'm thinking you could help your cause by posting detailed pictures of your receiver along with any stamps and other verbiage on the gun that would help others to identify maker and model. There is a chance, though remote, that somebody viewing this site may have another receiver that could be cannibalized or perhaps they have such parts lying around. All of the later would be a major stroke of luck. Is your gun missing all of its hammer springs? By chance are they all there and broken? What's the deal? Having something to work with (reference) will surely give you a leg up in this matter. You may already know this but making new springs (the leaf variety) is quite the art and pricey.

Yeah, I know making springs is a pricey endeavor. I probably do need to take some pics. The springs are all there, one is cracked, one broken and one is still good. Like I posted, the gun was built by Richard Marhoff & Sohns in Innsbruck. My father got it after WWII when he was in Germany. They are apparantly out of business now. I'm hoping that the springs are a fairly common item among drilling parts. I am going back to the gun shop and take some pics and get the dimensions of the springs. I'm also hoping that perhaps some existing leaf springs could be altered for use in my drilling. Finding any springs that fit would undoubtedly be a major stroke of luck, like you said. Are you sure the drilling is Marhoff and not Marholt ? Most Austrian drillings were made by an association that pooled resources and often used similar parts, some of which may be avaliable from the assn.(Genossenshaft?). Can you verify the springs are leaf and not "V"springs?

You're correct, Mike - its Marholt, my mistake. They are 'V' springs. Good news, I hope: I got an email from New England Custom Guns and they said to send them one of the springs and they can probably match it. Thanks for the info about the association. I will look them up.

Yep, if NECG can find a match that certainly would be good news. When you get some time please take a few pictures and show us your project.

Would be good news indeed, Buchsemann. I'm off to the 'smith today to get one of the springs to mail to NECG. My digital camera went to s**t, but I can probably get a couple of pics with it. I'm not sure how to post pics on this forum, but I might be able to figure it out. Just a little more info: The drilling is 16x16x22 Savage HiPower Ackley Imp. Very pretty gun, probably 90-95%. It's my most valued possession. My father had many guns, of which I have most, but the drilling was his pride and joy. I just have to get it repaired. Besides, hunting season here in Idaho is right around the corner.
