    Peter:

I've seen that script RS / RK, whatever several times. Selbstspannerdrilling System Tip=Top was only that of F.W. Keßler's:

Das System Tip-Top ist meine eigne Konstruktion and gesetzlich geschützt........

I can snap an image of this page of his Katalogue if need be.

    Cheers,

What we have here is the Hammerless Tip-Top Modell Nr. 2, Abzugsblech autmontierten Schlossen or trigger-plate action.

The images are of that of a Kerner-Anson.

      Cheers,

          Hello

          Raimey,
thanks for the offer but I believe the catalogue you have is the same as the one the GGCA is peddling. I have that catalogue as well.

I read the marking as R.K.

EDIT: I suddenly became one of the computer generation kids and managed to improve the illegible ad a bit. I'm not saying, nor do I believe, that the I (in the form of a j) in the Schutz Marke (Ideal) is the I on the thread topic but I got so excited over my new skills I decided to post.

          Kind regards
          Peter

Indeed, very same catalogue. Have you checked the sides of the lugs for a FWK monogram or trademark?

            Cheers,

              Hello

              Raimey,
the double is in Norway. I'm currently in Småland, Sweden. I know what I've posted in the thread. If further images turn up I'll ask permission to post them here.

              Kind regards
              Peter

                Hello

Made me none the wiser but here are more images. Another manipulated F. W. Kessler trade mark. This one is more skillfully worked. Someone on another forum pointed out the B looks like a pair of glasses. I did put my pair on to see if I could make out a Nitro marking. Unsure.

I've been informed there will be no further images.

EDIT: I no longer agree with my assumption of the time period for the double.

                Kind regards

IMHO that F.W.Kessler mark was intentionally altered to obscure the real origin of the gun. As I just answered to a similar question on another thread http://www.germanguns.com/upload/sho...-57-JR-Mauser) :
As usual, the real maker is not easily identified. Just as much as we today wish to learn about the real makers of our guns, the pre-WW2 wholesalers and retailers wanted to obscure the origin of "their" guns. I found an article in a 1920s "Der Waffenschmied". Here the "Name gunmaker" J.J. Reeb junior, Bonn, complained about the new, deplorable habit of larger Suhl gunmakers, namely August Schueler and Gebr. Merkel, to openly sign the guns they made to order for retail by others. He claimed this would ruin the business of country gunmakers, who had "their" guns made in Suhl and sold them as their own products. He had three double rifles made by Schüler for a customer in India. The custmer had written back: "If I had known you had the rifles made by Schüler, I would have gone to Schüler directly and will do so in the future."

                    Hello

The final information on the double. A name in the space on the rib where the manufacturer's/retailer's name would be has been ground/honed off. Apparently there are faint traces of a name. No image of this, however., and I'm not expecting one, either.

                    Kind regards
                    Peter
